International Network of People who use drugs (INPUD), Release and the International Centre for Human Rights and Drug Policy (ICHRDP) researched, consulted and drafted the recent guidance note ‘Decriminalization of drug use in the context of HIV‘, with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and the United Nations Development Programme.
The guidance outlines how drug decriminalisation enables better HIV responses, improving health, social and economic outcomes for people who use drugs, communities and the State. It was launched at the UN’s 69th Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Vienna earlier this month, with Release’ Executive Director presenting the Guidance note to delegates.
